A quiet and welcoming city, Friendsville was settled by the Quakers in the 1790s. With a population of over 850 residents, Friendsville might seem small. However, all the conveniences of big city life are well within reach as State Route 333 runs along the city and US Highway 321 runs it. With these two major thoroughfares, residents can easily connect to major interstates and the cities of Knoxville and Maryville. Gallahar Creek, surrounding part of the city, and the backwaters of Fort Loudon Dam, just northwest, create ideal areas for fishing, swimming, boating, skiing and hunting.
